GRAPE GROWERS IN CÔTES DU RHÔNE REGION
Domaine Coulange is a family-owned vineyard where several
generations of growers followed one another.
From 1929 to 1996, during 3 generations, the grape cultivated
in the estate was brought to the winemaking cooperative of Bourg St Andéol.
Then, after 1996, Maurice and his daughter Christelle start making their own wine on the estate, in order to produce a soil specific wine that fits their vision. The winery is therefore constructed and the first wines of the estate is made.

OUR ESTATE IN THE RHÔNE VALLEY
Our estate is situated in the southern part of Ardèche, close to the north-western limit of the protected designation area of Côtes du Rhône méridionales (Southern Côtes du Rhône).
The whole of the vineyard is located on the same gently sloped, south-south/east oriented hillside.
Today, it counts 34 hectares of different grape varieties:
• Grenache Noir, Syrah, Carignan and Mourvèdre for the red wines
• Grenache Blanc, Viognier, Roussanne and Marsanne for the white wines
SOUTHERN CÔTES DU RHÔNE - OUR CLIMATE - OUR SOIL- CULTIVATION OF OUR VINEYARD
At 100 meters high, under a Mediterranean climate: mild winters, hot and dry summers, with low rainfall thanks to the Mistral (a north wind that can blow hard), the soil is mainly argilo-calcareous; there are large quantities of cobblestones uphill, where the Côte du Rhône Villages soil stands, but there are less and less of them as we go downhill.
We cultivate the estate in an integrated way.
The vineyard is pruned according to the Cordon de Royat method on a single wire.
We favour sodding between the rows, and we apply a well-thought-out treatment.
The grape gathering is mechanical and the transportation time to the winery is very short due to the concentration of the estate around it.
